By Ghostwriter KIERO SWISS · based on reporting by Mass Market Retailers
Wegmans Food Markets is No. 1 on Fortune and Great Place To Work's 2026 Best Workplaces in Retail list. It is the 11th year in a row that the Rochester, New York grocer has held the top spot. The retail list is based on survey answers from more than 76,000 employees at certified companies; across all its lists, Great Place To Work analysed 1.3 million responses representing 7.3 million employees.
The retail title adds to a busy 2026 for Wegmans: it was also named one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For and a Best Workplace in New York, and it ranks No. 2 on PEOPLE's Companies That Care list. The company planned a celebration in all its stores on October 24.
On our own list of the best employers in the US, Wegmans is No. 5 among the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For 2026.
